I can't place a buy - I get an error

Order Validation Errors

If you are getting a validation error when you try and place a buy, this could be happening for multiple reasons:

• Your using the wrong type of order, such

  as: 

  • Placing a Sell Limit above price instead

  of a Buy Limit below price

• Misusing Stop vs. Limit orders

• Confusing short vs. long logic

For Resolution try the following steps:

1. Check the order tool selected (left-hand

toolbar):

Use Market Order for immediate execution 

◦ Use Limit Order if you want to buy

below current price or sell

above

◦ Use Stop Order if you want to buy

above or sell

below price

Make sure you're choosing the correct side:

◦ Buy Limit goes

below the current price 

◦ Sell Limit goes

above 

◦ If you're buying above price, you need a

Buy Stop

1. Double-check your entry direction:

◦ If you're expecting to go long, select

Buy

◦ If going short, select

Sell

Avoid using reversed order placement zones:

◦ Placing a Buy Limit above current price

will trigger a validation error or invert your trade.
